Two preserved buildings were surveyed ahead of renovation and demolition respectively. The beet barn from around 1900 is a listed building and is to be renovated as it is in poor condition. The tower is what remains of the late 19th century factory building, left standing when the rest of the factory was demolished in 2011. It contains offices unused for many years, a former grocery shop and rooms untouched since the days of the sugar mill.
Ahead of the renovation and demolition we carried out a detailed material survey with a total of 34 material samples analysed for asbestos, metals, petroleum hydrocarbons, PAH and chlorinated paraffins.
