The site was in use for more than 100 years, with engine sheds, workshops with a foundry, handling of oils and creosote, parked railway wagons, various storage areas and its own water tower. We carried out a detailed supplementary site investigation at 33 points with 92 samples analysed in the laboratory, and compiled the results with those of earlier consultants into a remediation plan.
During the environmental supervision a total of 217 samples were taken. Around a few trees worth preserving, the soil was removed by suction excavation without harming the roots. The site is now built up with linked houses.
