The area is made ground on former seabed, with fill from different periods since the quays once looked different. It later housed a ferry terminal for services to Copenhagen and Ven, and after that a car park for several years. We investigated the ground ahead of planned buildings with basements, and also sampled the sediment in the harbour basin as the quay was to be renovated. All contaminated fill was remediated, and a hotel with an underground garage now stands on the site.
